This state-of-the-art facility is a flagship project of the Ministry of Heavy Industries, Government of India, strategically planned under the Automotive Mission Plan initiated by the Government of India.

Situated near the vibrant industrial township of Pithampur in Dhar district, NATRAX is conveniently located just 50km away from the commercial capital of Madhya Pradesh, Indore. Accessible via NH-52 By-Pass Road (Indore – Mumbai), this sprawling facility spans approximately 3,000 acres of land.

NATRAX, nestled near Pithampur, is a testament to innovation in the automotive testing landscape. The center’s expansive 3,000-acre layout reflects its dedication to providing comprehensive testing and certification services for the automotive industry.
1. High-Speed Track: Precision Testing at Its Finest
Boasting one of the largest high-speed tracks globally, measuring 11.3 km with 4 lanes, NATRAX conducts development and homologation tests for a wide range of vehicles. This vast track facilitates a myriad of tests, including coast-down tests, brake tests, constant speed fuel consumption tests, speedometer calibration, noise and vibration measurement, and mileage accumulation.
2. Dynamic Platform: Pushing Limits in Vehicle Dynamics
NATRAX’s Vehicle Dynamic platform, one of the world’s largest, offers a vast testing area. The 300m steering pad seamlessly connects to a 1500m vehicle dynamics test area, enabling a variety of handling and stability tests. From constant radius tests to double lane changes and slalom tests, NATRAX’s dynamic platform sets new standards.
3. Multi Friction Braking Track: Varied Surfaces for Comprehensive Testing
Designed for braking tests on various surfaces, this track features a range of friction coefficients with surfaces like basalt, ceramic, high friction asphalt, and polished concrete. It facilitates ABS tests, high-speed brake tests, tire performance evaluations, and more, making it suitable for testing vehicles across categories.
4. Gradient Track: Assessing Torque Capacity and Gradability
The Gradient Track, also known as the Hill Track, evaluates a vehicle’s torque capacity and gradability. It serves as a crucial testing ground for assessing the efficiency of parking brakes on slopes.
5. Accelerated Fatigue Track: Simulating Real-World Wear and Tear
With 28 different profiles, the Accelerated Fatigue Track replicates various surfaces, from low to high severity, to accelerate the aging of vehicle structures and components. From Belgian pave to pot holes and resonance tracks, manufacturers can customize durability tests.
6. Gravel and Off-Road Track: Testing Vehicles Beyond the Norm
Spanning 3.5 km, this track consists of gravel and off-road loops, challenging vehicles with patches like mud tracks, village roads, and twist ditches.
7. Dry Handling Circuit for 4W: Precision Handling for Four-Wheelers
This 3.6 km circuit with curves of varying radii and road gradients caters to precise handling tests for four-wheelers.
8. Comfort Track: Evaluating Noise and Ride Comfort
Dedicated to noise and ride comfort evaluations, this track features diverse surfaces, including rough and smooth concrete, bridge joints, steps, and various pavement combinations.
9. Handling Track for 2&3 Wheelers: Tailored for Two and Three-Wheeled Vehicles
Designed specifically for two and three-wheeled vehicles, this 1.5 km circuit ensures comprehensive testing.
10. Sustainability Track: Simulating Hill Driving Conditions
This track, with a constant 8% slope over 800 m, simulates hill driving conditions and evaluates vehicle cooling performance.
11. Wet Pad: Enhancing Safety in Wet Conditions
Featuring a circular pad with different adhesion coefficients, this track is ideal for developing Electronic Stability Program (ESP) systems and testing tires in wet conditions.
12. Noise Track: Meeting Stringent Homologation Standards
Conducting homologation tests for Pass by Noise and Tyre Noise measurements, the Noise Track adheres to ISO standards 1994 and 2011.
