Ja Motorsport’s Super Nano Transformation, 38 bhp to 230 bhp

tata super nano
The Tata Nano, originally engineered as the world’s most affordable car, has been dramatically reimagined by JA Motorsport into a high-performance marvel. This transformation, known as the “Super Nano,” elevates the humble Nano from its economical roots to a powerhouse boasting 230 bhp and capable of reaching speeds up to 190 km/h. This comprehensive look delves into the technical and design advancements that make the Super Nano a standout in the realm of modified vehicles.

Engine and Performance

From Economy to Powerhouse

At the heart of the Super Nano’s transformation is the replacement of the stock 38 bhp two-cylinder engine with a robust four-cylinder 1.3-liter motor source from Hayabusa. This new engine is capable of producing a staggering 230 bhp at 10,000 rpm and 190 Nm of torque at 8500 rpm. The significant increase in power enables the Super Nano to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under 6 seconds, a substantial improvement from the original model.

Advanced Engineering

This high-revving engine is paired with a six-speed sequential gearbox, operated via paddle shifters, allowing for rapid and precise gear changes. Such a setup not only enhances performance but also ensures the driver maintains control and responsiveness at high speeds.

Exterior and Aerodynamic Enhancements

Full Body Kit and Aesthetics

The Super Nano sports a comprehensive body kit designed to improve aerodynamics and provide a more aggressive stance. Smoked headlights and taillights add a sleek, modern look, while the wide body kit accommodates the upgraded suspension and tires, ensuring stability and control at high speeds.

Aerodynamic Features

Every element of the Super Nano’s exterior is crafted with performance in mind. The aerodynamic body kit reduces drag, while the race-alloys and MRF ZLO racing slicks enhance grip and handling. These modifications collectively contribute to the vehicle’s ability to maintain high speeds and navigate corners with precision.

Interior and Safety Modifications

Race-Ready Cockpit

Inside the Super Nano, the cabin is stripped down and rebuilt for track performance. The rear bench is removed to reduce weight and make room for the larger engine. Recaro bucket seats provide the driver and passenger with secure and comfortable seating, essential for high-speed driving.

High-Tech Controls

The race-spec steering wheel features paddle shifters and a data-logger, allowing drivers to monitor and adjust performance metrics in real-time. Carbon fiber inserts on the dashboard not only reduce weight but also add a touch of modern, sporty aesthetics.

Safety Enhancements

Safety is paramount in high-speed track cars, and the Super Nano is no exception. A bolt-on roll cage provides structural integrity and protects occupants in the event of a crash. AP Racing brakes ensure the car can stop quickly and safely, a crucial feature when driving at high speeds.

Suspension and Handling

Uprated Suspension System

The suspension system of the Super Nano has been significantly upgraded to handle the increased power and speed. The track-tuned suspension setup provides better handling, stability, and cornering ability, essential for maintaining control on the race track.
MRF Z.LO Tires

Performance Tires

The Super Nano rides on MRF Z.LO tires that offer excellent grip and performance. These racing slicks are designed to provide maximum contact with the road, enhancing traction and allowing for precise maneuverability.

Investment and Practicality

Cost of Transformation

Transforming a standard Tata Nano into the high-performance Super Nano comes at a significant cost, approximately INR 25 lakhs. This investment includes all the mechanical and aesthetic modifications necessary to achieve the desired performance levels.

Track-Only Vehicle

It’s important to note that the Super Nano is not street legal and is intended exclusively for track use. This limitation, however, does not diminish its appeal to enthusiasts who seek a unique and powerful track car.
