Nissan is set to launch its highly anticipated Ariya EV in India. This move follows the introduction of the X-Trail and aims to position the Ariya e-SUV as a premium offering in Nissan’s Indian lineup. The Ariya EV will be imported as a full import, allowing Indian consumers to experience Nissan’s latest electric vehicle technology.
The Nissan Ariya SUV made its global debut in 2020 and was spotted testing in India last year. The SUV boasts stylish aesthetics, closely resembling the 2019 concept. Built on the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s CMF-EV electric vehicle architecture, the Ariya shares its platform with the Renault Megane e-Tech electric SUV.

The Nissan Ariya features a new ‘design’ shield and, in some markets, an illuminated Nissan logo. Its coupe-like design is accentuated by a prominent shoulder line connecting the front and rear. Depending on the variant and market, the Ariya rides on either 19-inch or 20-inch wheels.

The Ariya’s interior is designed to be futuristic and minimalistic, with a smooth dashboard free of physical buttons. The cabin offers a spacious feel, thanks to a flat, low floor and Nissan’s zero-gravity seats. While rear seat space is less generous, it remains comfortable for long-distance travel.
Dominated by two large 12.3-inch screens. Most functions are controlled via a unique haptic control setup, minimizing physical buttons. Higher variants come with a heads-up display and a Bose audio system.
Standard features include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and in-dash navigation. Additionally, wireless smartphone charging and a head-up display are available. The infotainment system supports both Amazon Alexa and a built-in voice assistant.
Nissan Ariya EV Powertrain Options
Globally, the Ariya is available with single-motor, rear-wheel-drive, and twin-motor, four-wheel-drive powertrains. It offers two battery pack options: a 63kWh and an 87kWh. The 63kWh pack delivers 217hp and 300Nm of torque with a claimed range of 402km, while the 87kWh model produces 242hp and 300Nm, offering up to 529km of range. The top-spec 87kWh version generates 306hp and 600Nm of torque with a range of up to 513km.
The Ariya is equipped with advanced driver assistance features, including an enhanced version of Nissan’s ProPilot system. The SUV achieved a full five-star rating from Euro NCAP in 2022.
Nissan Ariya SUV: India Launch Details
The Ariya SUV is expected to be positioned at the top of Nissan’s India lineup. As a high-end SUV, it will be sold in limited numbers, with the initial batch of 50 units already imported.
