Tata Motors has finally unveiled the production version of its much-anticipated Tata Curvv SUV coupe. Initially showcased as an electric concept in April 2022 and later as an ICE model in January 2023, the Curvv now enters the market, blending futuristic design with practical features.
Tata Curvv Production Version: Differences from the Concept
The transition from concept to production has introduced subtle yet significant changes. The Tata Curvv EV, initially flaunting exterior cameras, now features conventional outside rear-view mirrors. The daytime running lamps, previously extending into the bonnet, have been shortened, and the split rear spoiler has been replaced with a single, smaller unit.
Tata Curvv Exterior Design
The Tata Curvv’s front end bears a resemblance to the Tata Nexon, with distinct differences between the EV and ICE versions. The electric version includes a nose-mounted charging flap and vertical styling elements on the lower bumper. In contrast, the ICE version features smaller horizontal elements extending to the front grille. Both versions have triangular recesses for the headlights and a DRL unit stretching across the car’s width.
At the rear, the coupe’s distinct design sets it apart from the Nexon. The Curvv’s longer body and sharply dipping coupe roofline are complemented by squarish wheel arches. The ICE version has a fuel filler flap on the left rear fender and petal-like 5-spoke alloys, while the EV sports closed-off alloy rims for enhanced aerodynamic efficiency. Both versions feature pop-out flush door handles and prominent black cladding below.
Both the EV and ICE versions of the Curvv have a rooftop-mounted spoiler, now a single-piece unit that dips in the center, mimicking the concept’s split spoiler. The connected LED tail-light unit stretches across the rear, sitting above the Tata logo. The lower bumper section is finished in silver trim, with the ICE version concealing the exhaust.
Tata Curvv Interior Design
Though the interior of the Curvv remains officially unrevealed, a VR display provided a glimpse of the final production version. The design closely follows the Nexon, featuring a two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo, a floating touchscreen, and touch panel controls. The Curvv will offer different color schemes, with the dashboard trim finished in metallic silver carbon fiber weave and a maroon lower leather section.
Tata Curvv Expected Price and Launch
Tata Motors plans to launch the electric Curvv first, with prices expected to be announced on August 7. The ICE versions will follow later. Despite its niche body style, Tata aims to position the Curvv competitively within the mid-size SUV segment, drawing from its success with models like the Punch and Nexon.
The Tata Curvv EV is anticipated to be priced from Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom), while the ICE version may start from Rs 10.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The Curvv EV will compete with models like the MG ZS EV and the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV, while the ICE version will rival the Citroen Basalt and other compact SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Toyota Hyryder.
