This announcement comes as part of Tata’s broader strategy to introduce the Sierra EV alongside the first model from its new premium electric vehicle brand, Avinya, within the financial year 2026.

The Tata Sierra EV
The Tata Sierra EV, initially revealed as a concept at the Auto Expo 2020, is poised to become one of Tata’s flagship electric vehicles. The concept, based on the ALFA platform used in the Altroz, boasted dimensions of 4150 mm in length, 1820 mm in width, 1675 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2450 mm. However, the production version showcased at Auto Expo 2023 deviated from the unique four-door layout of the concept, adopting a more practical five-door design.
The Sierra EV is expected to incorporate advanced features, including a state-of-the-art infotainment system, premium upholstery options, and cutting-edge safety technologies such as advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).
Acti.ev Architecture and Gen2 EV Platform
Scheduled for launch by March 2026, the Sierra EV is expected to leverage Tata’s Gen2 EV platform and incorporate the Acti.ev architecture, similar to the Punch EV and the upcoming Harrier EV. This architecture not only enhances performance but also ensures a seamless integration of modern features and functionalities.
The Acti.ev architecture is designed to optimize battery usage, providing an extended driving range while maintaining a compact and efficient powertrain layout. This translates to a more sustainable and eco-friendly driving experience for consumers.
Avinya: A Premium Electric Brand
In addition to the Sierra EV, Tata Motors is set to introduce the first model from its Avinya range, marking the debut of a new premium all-electric brand. Avinya, led by Tata’s Chief Commercial Officer Vivek Srivatsa, will encompass a range of cars and SUVs based on Jaguar Land Rover’s modular Electric Modular Architecture, which will be localized to ensure cost-effectiveness.
The Avinya brand is positioned to offer a luxurious and technologically advanced driving experience, with features such as AI-powered interfaces, advanced connectivity options, and premium sound systems.
